Crank Dat ignantly

Souljah boy claiming to be the best rapper &/OR the difference between hip hop & rap

Okay…see?

Souljah boy has been quoted to saying something to the effect that he’s the hottest rapper out…hotter than Lil Wayne…and Hotter than Jay-Z

There’s a few things wrong with this statement.

*ahem*

Souljah boy has the lyrical expertise of a Mute Raccoon with Down syndrome.

The problem (among other things) is that song he made ‘crankin dat’ was a hit. YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU people liked/listened/watched and know how to do that dance
…maybe not alladat but summa dat

Record sales do NOT make you hot…it makes record companies rich.
Selling 500,000 the first week does NOT mean you’re the hottest rapper out…it means you’ve catered to the lowest common denominator and made some wack ish for the most part.

Well…I guess technically he could be right.

Depends on how you use the word ‘Hot’ now if you mean hot by in demand and talked about and copied the most at the present time? Then SURE He could be the “Hottest” rapper out right now.

He’s more of a fad than anything else…how’s that follow up single going?

BUT See, I feel that when he and others say “Hot” they mean the Best….best songs, lyrics, appeal, etc etc. and in THIS case…stop the madness

I’d rather get a naked Winehouse lap dance than have to listen to his entire CD

It’s everyone’s fault that this is happening…

Grown ups think this ish is cute…letting their kids do these dumb ass dances (I mean we had a ton of them) it’s the mind numbing music and idiotic songs that accompany them
The Kids aren’t educated well enough in the schools that this ish should be slightly insulting
And they are not educated enough in what real music should sound like so people just pass out anything and they eat it up.

Kids are dumb.

Rappers have admitted that they ‘dumb down’ their lyrics for the person that listens….WHY?
Challenge these idiots if they don’t understand…maybe they’d have to *gasp* read a damn book or search something out to realize what you’re saying and actually learn something? Heavens forbid.

THEN the young artists come out already stupid and make dumb ass songs cuz they don’t know any better already.

Soljah boy shoulda been looked at as a Weird AL instead of a quality artist.

The problem with music…ESP rap (cuz aint no hip hop) I will always say is when people started looking at it as a profession instead of a passion or love.

There was a time when no one went Gold or platinum…didn’t even mention it…record sales were 3rd at best behind
1. Being the best  2. Getting your message out….that’s all they wanted to do is be better and say what they wanted to say

Thing is they had something to say and did it creatively…might not has always been the most intelligent but it was creative.

..and biting was wack.

Anyway back to Soljah….

The OTHER problem is comparing himself to Jay Z and Wayne…who said THEY were the best besides record sales?
Just because a person is on every song on the radio …doesn’t mean what they’re saying on these songs is worth anything

With this logic, T-Pain is the Singer of the year.

eggs ackly.

Jay-Z and Wayne are popular…

Jay-Z once said “He’s still spending money from ’88…well now he’s using reputation from ’98 cuz his last 3-4 CDs have been HORRIBLE

I dunno…clearly I’m a big fat eclectik hater

Souljah Boy sounds like he should be the spokesperson for Jerry’s Kids. How can a boy with a speech impediment rivaling that of Buckwheat, be the hottest rapper? The whole world has gone mad!

I’d rather get a naked Winehouse lap dance than have to listen to his entire CD
    -Umm…I think I would have to agree…ewww.

I have to admit I like the beat of the song…guilty has charged. But I refuse to let anyone see me do the dance in public…oh, it was this one time in my office…moving on…

I can’t speak on who’s the hottest rapper…but I know that ‘Crank Dat’ would not be it.

“Real” music is on its’ last leg.

*Jumps on big fat Eclectik hater bandwagon*

  • wahoo4uva

‘Ay! . . ease up on my girl Amy. LOL. Just kidding. No, she’s not a wlecome lap dance type, but I am a fan of Back to Black.

Anyway. . .re: Jay-Z “his last 3-4 CDs have been HORRIBLE” — such a strong statement. I like the Black Album and American Gangsta. How can these be horrible? Maybe I’m just hypnotized by the beats. . . I’ll admit that’s what catches me first before I start really paying attention to the lyrics. And his songs aren’t particularly deep, but I like the word play.

    . . .this girl’s opinion

Whatever…you know you be crankin dat…STOP PLAYIN!!!! ;-P

I agree…with all you say…except I lubs me some Jay…Kingdom Come was probably his worst CD…I haven’t heard all of American Gangsta and I really liked the Black Album…

    I dunno…

    But Souljah Boy is WIGGIDY!!!

highly agree…Souljah boy gots to stop and GAIN CONTROL the only reason he making it is because he makes a dance with every song. The kids dont know no better b/c they momma and daddy doing the dance…

  • lovnlife

“…lyrical expertise of a Mute Raccoon with Down syndrome.” 😆

  • beautifulgyrlJ

E… U know u Crank Dat! Don’t FAKE LoL… But yeah Souljah is seriously retarded… Yaaa Trick Yaaa?!? Need I Say More?

T-Pain is singer of the year?!?! WOOOOW not the way he killed that poor Keith Sweat song on the VH1 Hip Hop Honors…

Ur not a Hater just expressing your opinion on how screwed up the music industry is. I see it like this back n the early 90’s these youngins like Souljah and Rihanna who Hollywood hype too much and have no talent wouldn’t exist.

There are soooo many reasons I could argue why he is not the hottest “rapper” out there, but I’m not even going to waste my breathe. In fact as soon as I catch my breath from laughing, I would like to point out his album barely went gold. He is a MySpace rapper, that’s it. I’m done here…

  • socurious

You’re so funny. I feel you on it though.

I used to also think music was on its last leg, until I realized there are really great recording artist still out here kick up dust. So I wouldn’t say the music is on its last leg. I think the fanbase is what is really on its last leg. We dictate the market.

Chrisette Michele, Badu, Jill Jones, Raheem Devaughn, Teedra Moses, Joy Denalane, Bilal, Eric Roberson…there are tons of quality artists doing the damn thang.

I liked Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em. I ridicule the song but that mugg was hot. lol.

Now his song that’s out now…pure garbage.

  • http://minusthebars.blogspot.com don

Next year, Soulja Boy will be a thing of the past. Him and Hurricane Chris. And the person responsible for giving them record deals.

  • cuzkaysaidso

Naked Winehouse lap dance??…wow, now THAT’S harsh!
Fortunately, there is still good music being made–it’s harder to find. I also blame internet with all this YouTube, MySpace, etc. that got all these kids thinking they can sing or rap or whatever. Get off the damn computer …you ain’t “hot” and you’re late for school!

    NEW AMERYKAH in three weeks…

  • Truth

Soulja Boy sold wood! His album didn’t go gold, damn near made it to bronze!

He is the “hottest” ring tone rapper…by downloads/sales and the “hottest” myspace rapper…by plays.

We won’t even remember who a Soulja Boy is or was by the end of this year.

You get a “high-five” on this: Jay-Z once said “He’s still spending money from ‘88…well now he’s using reputation from ‘98 cuz his last 3-4 CDs have been HORRIBLE”

    Love that!!!!

  • harriet

ROFL @ “mute raccoon with down syndrome.”

even folks with down syndrome are smarter and have more wisdom than this fool if he thinks he is the defining act in rap right now. my God!

  • Cutie Hu Girl

I sooooo could have written this! Maybe not that Winehouse part, LoL, but you are in my head 100%… well, 95%, cause I love Jay.
